Tí Bhúrca or Mount Gable House is situated in the Connemara
Gaeltacht. Now in its fourth generation, the premises were originally
built by John A. Joyce, grand-uncle of Charlotte Burke. Later, it was
purchased by a Mr. Allen, who in turn sold it to Walter McNally (a native
of Westport). He in the course of time sold it to John J. Burke (also
know as old J.J.) in 1922 while he was home from Chicago on an extended
holiday.
Originally from Kylecrue, (near Borrisoleigh), he was visiting his sister who was married and living in Renvyle when he passed through Clonbur and saw Mount Gable Hotel for sale.
An avid sportsman and great believer in community development,
these traits have been passed on down through the generations. The premises
prides itself on its involvement and support of local sports and
the community.
Hence we feel you will get a true taste of Joyce Country as all our products are grown or produced locally and where possible, organically.
Tá suíl agiann go mbainfidh sibh taitneamh as an mbia, an
deoch, an ceol, agus an cómhra atá ar fáil i dtí Bhúrca, an Fháirche.
